Quick Tips: The Psychology Behind Branding

Updated: Jun 20, 2022

In our current world where consumerism is at an all time high, it can create a sense of unease. No one wants to feel like a company’s main goal is to separate them from their money.

That being said, I do believe that all companies and all products began with a person who had a vision. Maybe they wanted to create the perfect sandwich or a pair of pants that are durable and comfortable, while also being stylish. Most companies begin with a dream of creating something great - possibly something better than all that came before it.

It’s important to not lose sight of this initial vision, when you are building your brand. Focus on the why - why do customers need your product? Focus on the how - how it will improve their lives? Sometimes we get so excited about our company because we already know it’s great. We’ve spent countless hours building it, perfecting it, and we know its value.

Now, you must explain that value to others. Just telling them how great your product is, isn’t enough. Taking high-quality photographs and coming up with catchy slogans are important elements of advertising, but they often leave out the #1 most important element - people. Your customers are the reason you exist.

Essentially, you want to help them in some way.

Let them know that.

You can use social media to get to know your audience. Connect with them. Learn what they need and what they don’t need. Create and post content that they will actually enjoy viewing, and even want to share. Just putting your product in front of their eyes is not enough. Create value in your content.
